This training introduces the dynamism of the business and societal environment on an EU level. It also focuses on the decisionmaking processes and the roles of different stakeholders.After participating in this training, students should be able to prepare a vision statement for their (or their team%u2019s) value-creating activity thatguides internal decision-making throughout the whole process of creatingvalue, as well as promote initiatives for change and transformation thatcontribute to the vision.n Keywords:integration process, enlargement, European institutions, EU law,European prioritiesIntroductionIn the past, countries began to liberalise part of their trade with some partnercountries, creating a regional international agreement (RIA). The developmentof RIAs was undertaken in the post-WWII period, and since that moment, theintegration in the western part of Europe, European integration, has beendeepened, broadened, and enlarged.Nowadays, the World Trade Organisation reports that there are more than200 RIAs in the world. The European Union is the most prominent and inspiringscheme of international integration. We must underline that such an outcomehas been achieved gradually and the European Union, as we know it today, haschanged radically since its inception in 1958. That%u2019s why we consider it crucialto familiarise ourselves with the concept of European integration and its history.As the next steps, the institutional and legal frameworks are presented in thischapter.
