programme is designed to help participants develop a mindset that is conduciveto innovation and creativity and equip them with practical skills and techniquesthat they can use to create innovative solutions for complex problems. In the past half-century, the world%u2019s population has more than doubled. Yetthe amount of material flowing through the economy has more than tripled. Theimpact of %u201cthrow away%u201d culture on the planet and societies is clear: it%u2019sdestructive. We are living in a time of rampant pollution and waste, resourcescarcity, biodiversity loss and warming global temperatures: all of which arelinked in some way to our rising levels of consumption. It is essential to find allthe tools that will help solve these problems. The design thinking model is animportant tool for the sustainable economy, which allows students to explorenew ways to create sustainable, resilient, long-lasting value and creativeconfidence to redesign the world around them.n 3. 2. 1. Introduction to innovationInnovation is tightly linked with creativity, ideation, invention, commercialization, and entrepreneurship. Thus, it is defined by both static and dynamiccharacteristics %u2013 as change through innovation, and as process throughmovement. By its very nature, innovation represents both a problem for oneindividual and an opportunity for another. As such, its result is entrepreneurship,or more precisely innovative entrepreneurship. The four Ps model systematisesthe innovation dimensions as:%u25aa Changes in the products and services the organisation offers%u25aa Changes in the way (process) they are created and delivered%u25aa Changes in the underlying mental models that define what an organisationdoes (paradigm)%u25aa Changes in the context in which products or services are introduced(position).Generally, innovation is about:%u25aa Invention and commercialization%u25aa Transformation from idea to usefulness%u25aa Use of new knowledge to offer new product/service that customers want%u25aa New ideas adoption with success. The novel concept of frugal innovation is still less used and known, based onfrugality %u2013 simplicity, austerity, lack of abundance, very limited use of resourcescompared to needs and associated with ecological and social sustainability(minimal use of resources). It is innovation commensurate with the needs to be met. 1173.2 Innovations and Design Thinking
